When you want to start using FB ads to generate sales for your business there are steps to take to make sure you don’t lose your shirt.
Facebook can be a great place to start a relationship with customers. It can also be a place that you may want to avoid because your business isn’t suited for Facebook.
So before we get into the three key items a few rules to look at your business before you start looking at Facebook ads:
- Do people talk about your business?
- Do people have a passion for what you do and the service that you provide?
- Are your customers easily identifiable either by geography, demographic feature or designation?
When you can answer yes to at least 2 out of the 3 questions above you have an opportunity to put the 3 key items to work for your business on Facebook.
- Know your best customer. This happens before you click into your Facebook account. Write out what your best customer has in common. For example one of our clients their target market is women, aged 28-35, who are single, active, and are located within 15 miles of their store. The more you know about your target client the better off you are going to be.
- Advertising separately to different demographic & geographic groups. One of the biggest mistakes we see in FB advertising accounts is customers targeting “women” or “men” and not separating out “single women” or “relationship women”. You also have to separate out by age as well. Individuals who have kids compared to those who don’t should also have a separate ad.
- Track your results. Whether you are sending the traffic to your website or to your Facebook Fan Page tracking your results is critical for success. Facebook does not provide tracking code for you. We recommend using a third party tool to provide the tracking for you.
When you advertising for sales on Facebook keep in mind you are building a relationship. Don’t ask for the sale immediately. Start providing them great information and a way to have a conversation with you before you ask for the sale.
